    for--"At home in Pierce Co. on furlough. Extended from 21
    21 Sep to 2 October."
    * SEPT & OCT 1862 MUSTER ROLL: present; enlisted May 1
    1862 at Tebeauville by Maj. Clinch; 3 yrs in the war
    * JULY & AUG 1862 MUSTER ROLL: present
    * NOV & DEC 1862 MUSTER ROLL: enlisted May 1 1862 at
    Tebeauville by Maj. Clinch; remarks--Died at his home
    in Pierce County Ga 27th Nov 1862

Abstract of Widow's Pension Application, 1891:

    FROM WIDOW'S AFFIDAVIT:
      * Name: Lishia Ann James
      * Widow of Francis M. James; Co. G, 4th Regt, Ga Cavalry
      * Francis M. James enlisted 1 May 1862; While he was in Army,
      on the 18 Nov 1862, While at Camp Harris, near Brunswick,
      taken with Typhoid fever, obtaining a furlough he went to
      hospital and a from there he came home, to Pierce County,
      where, lingering only a few days, he died on the 27 day of
      November 1862. He enlisted under Capt. Allen C. Strickand
      but Capt McMillan was commanding when he became sick. He
      served under Col. Duncan L. Clinch. He was a well and
      hearty man before taking fever in the service.

      * Lishia and Francis Marion married 6 Dec 1855; she has resided
      in Georgia since 8 Feb 1833

    FROM AFFIDAVIT FOR THREE WITNESSES:
      * Names: Thomas Riggins, Abraham Walker, and John B. Tuten
      * Each personally knows Lishia Ann James as the widow of Francis
      M. James, soldier with Co. G, 4th Ga Cavalry; on 1 May 1862,
      while in service, While at Camp Harris, he contracted
      Typhoid fever, living only a few days after reaching home,
      one of the witnesses, Thomas Riggins, was with him when he
      was taken sick, helped him to get his furlough and was his
      attendant while sick in camp.

    Widow Applied for Pensions for years 1891, 1893,
    and all years 1895 to 1907.
